Phil Whipple Elected as Bishop 2009-2013
Just before lunch, the election results for bishop were announced. Phil Whipple was elected as the new bishop, to serve a four-year term, 2009-2013. He received 326 out of the 336 votes cast (which included 3 abstentions and five blank ballots).Phil came forward to speak to the conference. Then Bishop Ramsey asked all of the other bishops present--Hirschy, Seilhamer, Miller, Sites, Waldfogel--to come forward to lay hands on Phil and pray over him. Bishop Raymond Waldfogel led in prayer.
In addition, the new members of the Executive Leadership Team were announced. The delegates elected 8 persons, and the new ELT will appoint 4 additional persons.
Ministers: John Beukema, Dennis Miller, Marty Pennington, Lester Smith.
Laypersons: Annette Sites, Molly Kesler, Debbie Voight, Dan Peternoster.
