Cluster Groups: Sample Agreement

The members of a potential cluster need to develop an agreement, which spells out the standards to which they will hold each other, along with other details about how their group will function. This then needs to be submitted to the Executive Leadership Team. Below is a sample agreement. You can also download a PDF version.

Purpose

We will connect relationally for the purpose of:

• Encouraging each other
• Cultivating our calling and character.
• Developing pastoral leadership skills
• Learning about and implementing healthy church principles in our churches

Standards

• We will commit to the group and faithfully attend, not missing except when it is unavoidable.
• We will accept, support, and encourage each other through honest and open dialog.
• We will keep confidential whatever group members say in the group.
• We will hold each other accountable to our group agreements.
• We will be loyal to one another and the Cluster Leader.
• We will view the Cluster Leader in the same light as our Bishop in regard to respect, authority, and responsibility.
• We will follow Matthew 18 to resolve conflicts.
• We will maintain the United Brethren commitment to moral character, doctrinal soundness, administrative integrity, and ministry competence.
