Ads: Stages of Acceptance
Advertising, with repeated exposure, can take people through several stages on the way to becoming involved with your church. This could include everything you use to get your name out there--postcards, flyers, radio promotion, website, etc. Even the church sign.

  1. Awareness. A person knows your church exists. When he hears your name, he at least knows he's heard it before.
  2. Comprehension. The person is not only aware of you, but knows something about you--where your church is located, perhaps a program you're involved in, or something else.
  3. Conviction. The person has a positive attitude toward you.
  4. Desire. The person not only thinks highly of you, but wants what you have to offer. He believes you can meet a need in his life.
  5. Action. The person takes some kind of action to get what you have to offer: contact the pastor, show up at a service, attend a special event at your church, accept a friend's offer to attend a Bible study, check out your website, send an email requesting information, etc.
